Small, much loved bears with balding fur and replaced parts, eyes and noses usually sell for well under $100, unless made by a well-known manufacturers.

Steiff bears are the most sought after they are usually solid and well stitched, with thick mohair, long, slim bodies, and elongated arms, large feet, a hump back, and pointed nose.

Rods remained the same until the 19^th century, when treated bamboo canes were cut and planed to form fly rods of exceptional quality.

Split cane rods from this period sell for around £80-£120 for an unremarked example, but particularly 

fine pieces such as an HL Leonard Trout Rod, can command as much as £350-£450.

The first written record of reels, also called winches, is in Thomas Barkers the art of angling, published in 1651.

Metal reels are more durable than wooden ones, which is why there is such a wide range available .

Many of the finest designs and mechanisms were developed in the late 19^th  and 20^th century, including multiplying, half crank, Cage, and free school clutch reels.

Prices range from less than £100 to several thousand pounds, depending on rarity, quality, and condition.
