Brambly Hedge Collectibles

Brambly Hedge Collectibles

Brambly Hedge is the top tip with collectors and dealers at the moment as 'the' range that's going to become hot property in the coming years. While it's no great surprise that Royal Doulton's range of Brambly Hedge character figures are increasing in value all the time, what has been extraordinary is the way that Brambly Hedge's collect ability has spread through the market.

The Brambly Hedge range has always been a more "limited edition" than the Beatrix Potter range. Jill Barklem's creations are much more recent than the classic characters created by Beatrix Potter and so obviously less merchandise has been produced. However, demand for Royal Doulton's Brambly Hedge tableware, much of which was discontinued at the end of 1997, has never been better.

Now the Brambly Hedge range of Border Fine Arts resin figures is taking off big time too. Many dealers dismiss resin for being too easy to fake, frequently being cast abroad, and lacking the quality and detail of its china or porcelain equivalent.

However, the fact that much of the Brambly Hedge range was in fact made by the Border Fine Arts company, before it was taken over by the Enesco Gift ware group, has made collectors and dealers

Look out for those BFA pieces with green baize bases as towards the end of the licence the pieces were and still are manufactured in China with white bases. It's the original Border Fine Arts British made versions that are the most sought after as they were all made at BFA's Scottish base.
